IFSA: Robin, Tell us a bit More about you:

Robin: So as you know, my name is Robin Tessier. My nickname is Nibor. I was born on May 14th 1993, I’m Fifteen.

I actually leave in Bordeaux.

So What’s your different title in Freestyle ?

Robin: This year I won two titles, World Champion in Moscow and World Cup Champion, both in Freestyle Slalom.

Any Other title? In France maybe ?

Robin: Yes, so far I had 11 National titles (French champion) in Freestyle Slalom, Speed Slalom and Free jump since 2004. All that in various category (Poussin, Benjamin, Minime, Cadet)

Wow, but to get all that at 15, When did you start skating ?

I began roller skating 6 years ago : in 2002 with my mother and my best friend. At the beginning, I learned only, without teacher, but it was too difficult that I decided to take my first lessons.

And when did you start competing then??

I started local and national competition in 2003 and IFSA competitions in 2005 at the Barcelona World Cup.

Ok, but give us or to other skaters your secret :-) , How often and how do you train ?

I dedicate about 6 hours of training in total per week : 3 hours on Saturdays, 2 hours on Sundays and 1 hour on Wednesdays. Sometimes, when the time allows it and when I am not occupied, I am going onto numerous spots of Bordeaux but mostly, these small sessions are not very intensive training…

During that, I have an habit to create one run the only run. But happily, numerous persons are near me to recommend me… I notably think of my parents, of my monitors, of my friends… but also of Clochette and of Skali who support me tremendously, in spite of our distance.

What helps you to progress, to perform better each time?

I think that the comprehension of a run is possible thanks to a brainstorming around it because to have a well constructed run, it is very important to reflect the place of every tricks and movement. After several hours of preparation, I begin my run as I had imagined it with the music chosen beforehand.

But to help you on travelling, training, are you part of any national team, brand team or club ?
My club is the MUC Roller (Montpellier Universit√© Club) where I am since the beginning of 2007. The French National team helps me too for my travel. It’s very difficult to go on a team. Now, it’s “wait and see !”

Do you practice any other roller sports?

I practice Freestyle Slalom which is my favourite passion… I enjoy also Speed Slalom, Free Jump, Slides, Street …
But my favourite sport is Freestyle Slalom because I love creating, imagining, conceiving my run… For me the slalom is synonymous with pleasure and with relaxation.

What is your ambition in the next few years ? Any challenges?
In competition, try to have good results ! And moreover, have diploma to teach or judge in competition.

Tell us, in Freestyle Slalom what is your best trick or your favorite movement?
I love, of course, the butterfly (korean eagle) because it’s in some kinds my symbol and I’am the first rider to do this trick. But I also enjoy spins and wheelings…

Today, what is your view of our sports and its development?
According to me, the roller develops more and more in the course of time thanks to numerous measurements appraise to move forward our sports. When I began the roller, almost all persons whom I met thought that the roller was not very renowned and “street ” sports…. But today, I realize that the roller is more and more known and that it becomes (as the figure skating or the roller of speed for instance) very difficult and well-trained sports…

Out of the skate what is your life, what are your passion, career, ambitions?
Put to one side the slalom, I am also attracted by the street, travels (newly, I went in India, but also to Viet Nam and in Dominican Republic) and by architecture (the drawings, the history of monuments, building) and I dream to become architect….

Anything specific that you wish to add?
Yes I would already like to thank IFSAsports for this interview and I hope that grace in measurements taken by all persons who wish the development of the roller, our sports will be a day acknowledged as sports of high level, to see Olympic….
I’m happy to meet some riders coming differents countries like italy, Russia, Spanish, Great Britain, Belgium….
